The history of tattooing

The word, tattoo, comes from the Polynesian word "nanny" and means "touch" or "to mark something."

Captain James Cook introduced this word in English during his voyage around the world in 1769. Captain Cook and his crew of the ship, the Endeavor, was welcomed with open arms by a friendly and uninhibited Tahitians (yeah, it means that many of them were naked.) As the weather was very hot on the island, clothing was optional.

Tahitians tried to lookthe best they can adorn their bodies. But the fact of the matter is the application of tattoos, which was painful. E 'was made by dipping a ridge in soot and then hammering in leather. Yet it has none.

As word spread of tattooing in Tahiti and other islands of Polynesia, the European sailors began to get that tattoo. This is perhaps why tattoos were presented with such a lack of credibility in the early days and were seen asas a kind of what for drunkards, sailors and criminals.

Modern archeology has uncovered the practice of tattoos in many ancient cultures throughout the world.

In 1992, in the Alps between the border of Austria and Italy, has found a perfectly preserved body of a man was. He was estimated to have lived 5000 years ago! He had 58 tattoos all over his body.

· Mummies from the ancient Egyptians had tattoos.

· Clay figuresfound in Japan dated 3,000 years ago are etched with tattoos.

· The ancient Greeks and Romans used tattoos to identify slaves and criminals.

But the tattoo is only in "normal" society as acceptable recently. Tattoo shops and offices were simply wretched hives of scum and evil, seediest parts of the city is the most significant changes.

The tattoo has become very popular with sports athletes. NoYou can forget the now retired flamboyant NBA, Dennis Rodman, first, whose body was a tattooing canvas. A current example is Allen Iverson of the Philly 76'ers. The tattooing trend is still very popular in college basketball. And the negative effect is based on athletes of high school. Some old-fashion trainers prohibits any display of tattoos which meant some basketball players, playing with a T-shirt under the shirt of the game. Soccer fans do not miss the barbed wireTattoos on well-developed arms of football players.

The show is popular "Miami Ink" by TLC-based reality show. The exhibition shows the popularity, as the art of mainstream body art or "inking has become." It gives the viewer a vision of art and history of the two artists and their customers.
